Concessions Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
The Concessions Manager is responsible for the overall organization, sanitation, and stocking levels of all concession stands and portable stands at Riverwalk Stadium.  He/She is directly responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels, product ordering, and equipment maintenance for the food service operation prior to and during events.  Additionally, this person will schedule and direct part-time concession employees including managers, non-profit groups and warehouse staff during game day operations.  The Concessions Manager will report directly to the Director of Food Service.

This is a full-time position that includes regular office hours (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm), all Montgomery Biscuits home games (70 games), and any other food service events held at Riverwalk Stadium.  This schedule varies and includes nights, weekends and holidays.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Recruiting, hiring, scheduling, managing, and training of 100+ concession/portable, warehouse employees and non-profit groups
  • Event administrative duties - post game civic group evaluations, stand manager and customer feedback forms, time sheets, inventory control sheets, and uniform distribution trackers
  • Attending weekly foodservice/sales department meetings to discuss and prepare for upcoming events
  • Directly responsible for post-event inventory reconciliation with all stand managers and portable managers
  • Event management of warehouse operations and all warehouse employees.  This includes maintaining proper staff levels and security controls, as well as delivering product to locations in a timely fashion and keeping accurate inventory distribution records
  • Monitoring, meeting and communicating all health codes and liquor control laws
  • Responsible for management of POS system.  Includes pre-event setup, menu changes and adjustments, event trouble shooting and post-event closing
  • Daily pre-game checks and repairs as needed, including stocking levels, radio distribution and inventory control sheets, on all concession and portable equipment to ensure proper sanitation on all portable locations and stands
  • Compiling purchase and sales information for end of season reports and annual budgets
  • Help with maintenance of stadium equipment and closing down of the stadium for winter
  • Assist in all other areas of foodservice and operations as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in foodservice, restaurants, or catering required

  • Must be able to maintain strong thinking skills while under pressure and time limits
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Basic computer skills

Catering Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
The Catering Supervisor will oversee all catering venues at Riverwalk Stadium, including twenty luxury suites and three picnic venues with capacity of 50 – 2500 people. This person will manage a staff of at least twenty (hourly and volunteers) and will be responsible for the set-up, clean-up and operation of all catering venues.  Additionally, he/she will be responsible for communicating with clients about food orders and menu options, handling any customer service issues during events, as well as holding weekly meetings between the food service department and sales department to ensure that food delivery, bill distributing, and the opening and closing of picnic venues are done in a timely manner.  The Catering Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Sales, Executive Chef, and Director of Food Service.

This will be a full-time seasonal position, starting in early, 2009 and running through the end of the baseball season in September.  Depending on performance and the status of the economy, this position will often lead to a full-time permanent position either with the Biscuits food service operation or at one of the other operations run by Professional Sports Catering (same Owners as the Montgomery Biscuits).  This person will be required to work a full-time schedule that includes regular office hours (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm), all Biscuits’ home games (70 games), and any other catering events held at Riverwalk Stadium.  This schedule varies and includes nights, weekends, and holidays. 

The Catering Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Food Service.

Concessions & Warehouse Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
The Concessions & Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the overall daily operation of all concession stands, food portables and warehouses at Riverwalk Stadium. This includes, but is not limited to, the organization, sanitation, stocking, receiving and security of all food service product inventories. He/She will also be responsible for directing part-time concession/portable managers and warehouse employees, as well as assisting Food Service Managers with pre-event setup. The Concessions Supervisor reports directly to the Concessions Manager.

This is a full-time seasonal position, typically held by an intern who is interested in working in the food service industry. This position is required to work a full-time schedule that includes regular office hours (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm), all Montgomery Biscuits home games (70 games), all City of Montgomery events (approx. 20 throughout summer), and any other events held at Riverwalk Stadium. This schedule varies and includes nights, weekends and holidays.

This seasonal position will start in early March and last through the end of September. Schedules can be negotiated during the months of March, April, and September to accommodate class schedules if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College student or recent graduate
  • Foodservice/Hospitality major (or similar)

Box Office Intern

JOB SUMMARY:
The Box Office Intern will assist the Box Office Manager in directing ticketing operations. He/she helps direct box office sales representatives in maintaining quality customer service and cash management procedures.  He/she will also assist accounting, production and delivery of season tickets, single game ticketing and all other special ticket sales.

The Box Office Intern will have the opportunity to learn the Ticket Return ticketing system used widely throughout the industry and the Biscuits’ custom contact management system utilized by the sales force. The Box Office Intern will manage all cash handling procedures while working directly with the General Manager, the Box Office Manager and the Business Manager.

All our internship positions are required to work a full-time schedule that includes regular office hours and all Biscuits home games (70 games).  The game schedule varies, and can include nights, weekends, and holidays.  This internship will run from February through the end of the season in early September, and the Biscuits can typically work around a class schedule during the spring semester.

Sales Intern

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sales Intern serves in a support role for the sales of group and corporate tickets as well as special amenities including suites, picnic and luxury venues, premium t-shirts and Biscuit Bucks.  He/she is responsible for servicing current accounts as well as selling to his/her own small account list.

The daily activities of the Sales Intern will include working with clients, both dedicated and new, while working with the Biscuits’ proprietary contact management system, following established procedures with box office interaction, compiling and circulating reports to management, producing sales letters and informational packets, and assisting the sales staff with meeting preparation and special event execution.

Interns are required to work a full-time schedule that includes regular office hours and all Biscuits’ home games. This schedule varies and includes nights, weekends and holidays.  The Biscuits will work around a remaining class schedule if necessary.

ALL

Bartender
Experience setting up and running a full service bar is required in order to successfully perform the duties of this position, which a limited number of openings during the summer. Bartender positions are available at the ballpark’s Club Car Bar, at suite lehasvel and at private party areas. Bartenders are scheduled at different locations throughout the season. Bartenders often hold additional positions at the park, including Suite Server and report to the Suite Supervisor. Excellent customer service and people skills are musts. Applicants must be 21 or over in compliance to the Alabama State Liquor Laws.

Bat Boys & Girls
Bat Boys and Girls have extensive responsibilities including pre-game set up of equipment and post-game break down which also includes cleaning the dugouts and inventorying and storing bats, balls, cups and water jugs. They are responsible for supplying and retrieving balls, bats and equipment during games and batting practice as well as providing ice, drinks, towels, etc. to managers, coaches, trainees, players and umpires as needed.

Box Office Representative
Assist the Box Office Manager in the daily operation of the ticket office. Reps. interact with customers on a daily basis and are expected to excel in the areas of customer service and communication. The primary purpose of the position is to sell individual game tickets while effectively communicating our policies to the general public in a customer service oriented manner. Each individual will be responsible for daily reconciliation of his/her own cash drawer and daily maintenance of the box office. Some data entry duties during down times will be required.
Ability to relate well to the public in an empathetic manner and learn basic computer functions a must.

Camera Operator
The Camera Operator is responsible for capturing live game footage of the Biscuits on one of the two Biscuits DVC video cameras. This person is responsible for setting up the camera, tripod and cables in one of the camera bays before each game, shooting game action and specified pre- and in-game promotions; and the proper shutdown and storage of all camera equipment. Qualified candidates will possess substantial experience filming sporting events at any level.

All members of the Press Box Staff will report to and receive game day direction from the Biscuits Director of Entertainment.

Concession Stand/Portable Staff
With several positions available in various areas of the ballpark, the stand and portable workers can serve as cashiers, runners, cooks and support staff to make sure the beer is chilly and the hot dogs are warm (while serving lots of other yummy ballpark food) in order to satisfy our hungry customers! This is an excellent way to gain experience in the food service industry.

Emcee
The on-field Emcee is responsible for executing all in-game promotions during each inning break. You must have a great speaking voice and love performing in front of large crowds. You will be interacting with fans of all ages and must be energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic. You must be able to memorize scripts as well as be able to improvise on a nightly basis. Most importantly you must love to have fun and be able to excite thousands of fans. Previous live audience experience is desired, but no necessary.

Grounds Crew Member
Full-time seasonal employee responsible in assisting the Head Groundskeeper with the daily maintenance of the playing field, seating berms and exterior plaza area. He/She will participate in all activities relating to maintaining a professional level baseball field including but not limited to: mowing, watering, edging, line and logo painting, infield and pitcher’s mound maintenance, and equipment maintenance. This position requires long hours including late nights and weekends.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Prior experience in the turf industry (athletic field, golf course or landscape)
  • Experience with commercial mowing and grounds equipment
  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of turf-related degree/certificate program
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude a must

Guest Services

  • Concierge – Goodwill ambassadors to usher, help with barrier free seating, provide special customer service and information. A willingness to interact with the fans is a must.
  • Ticket Takers – the frontlines of service that greet fans and take tickets at the entrances of the stadium. Check bags, blankets, and containers for food and beverage. A willingness to interact with fans is a must.
  • Suite Attendant / Elevator Operator – Goodwill ambassadors to help direct and control traffic to the team’s suite level. Expect to answer questions and assist with special situations with the team’s valued Suite Customers while directing individuals to barrier free seating and the media to the press box. Serves as a key point of contact for keeping fans out of restricted areas including both suite and clubhouse levels.
  • Customer Service Desk - Attendants who are centrally located within the park who will answer questions, provide customer service, information and special assistance to fans.  

Hawker
A little spunk, a loud mouth and some quick hands are needed to be a successful ballpark hawker! This position is responsible for selling food and beverages up and down the isles throughout the ballpark. Ideal applicants will have excellent customer service skills, interact well with other people and be great communicators. Ability to walk up and down the stairs frequently while carrying product and making change is important.

Interactive Games Operator
Set up and tear down of inflatable games, crowd control and accuracy with cash receipts are the responsibilities of the game operators. While the games operators will not handle cash, he/she will be responsible for collecting tokens from each person participating on an inflatable game. Operators will also be responsible to make the inflatables safe by ensuring the rides are utilized in the proper way.

Games include a Moonwalk, Speed Pitch, Giant Slide and an Obstacle course.

Moonwalk – an inflatable structure those children ages two to twelve can jump in similar to a trampoline. Each child receives five minutes of jumping for a token and must wear socks, but not shoes in the Moonwalk. Five children at a time are allowed to participate. Careful monitoring of the ages of the children, the rowdiness and the amount of time spent jumping are a must.

Speed Pitch – an inflatable based game in which each contestant receives three baseballs to throw for a token. As he/she throws, the speed is registered on an authentic radar gun. Prior to the third throw, the contestant is asked to guess his/her speed.

Obstacle Course – an inflatable structure through which children can “race” each other. Includes climbing and crawling and leaping through an inflatable course that provides various obstacles throughout the way. Children typically bring a friend to race or the operator “marries” two children of the same age group to make a “race” atmosphere.

Super Slide – an inflatable game that children of certain ages can climb with the assistance of a rope and slide down the other side. The giant slide towers over Big Mo’s dugout and is fun for fans of nearly all ages. Careful monitoring of the kids as they progress up and down the slide is necessary as the top of the slide could prove dangerous if an unsupervised child were to accidentally fall.

Kitchen Crew
Crew members will handle many kitchen appliances and tools while being responsible for maintaining a pace to handle suite level catering and concourse food service needs. Individuals with some cooking experience in a restaurant-type environment are normally the most successful applicants. Duties include food prep, cooking and cleaning. Part time positions are available with flexible day and evening hours.

Party Patrol
Calling all PERFORMERS!!!!! As a member of the Party Patrol you will provide in-stand entertainment to fans throughout Riverwalk Stadium. Your duties will include roaming the stands with interactive games and props and interacting with fans for prizes. No prior experience is required but all applicants must love entertaining large crowds of people. Party Patrol members will be expected to have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality and must be willing to approach fans.

Portable Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! The portable cleaner will be responsible for the daily cleanliness and presentation of Riverwalk Stadium’s food portables and condiment carts. Qualified candidates must be hard working, have the ability to stay on task and take pride in his/her work.

Porter & Maid
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans! Porters & Maids are responsible for in-game clean up including minor spills on the concourse and in the seating bowl, changing trash can liners, refilling restroom paper and soap dispensers and keeping an eye out for these needs. Porters and Maids should be courteous with an eye for detail and not afraid to “roll up their sleeves”.

Replay Operator
The Replay Operator is responsible for continuously capturing digital replays of live game action, pre-game events & in-game promotions using the Biscuits designated replay computer. This position will also be responsible for putting together the Biscuits highlight reel for each game, which are aired during pre-game of the following game. Qualified candidates will possess substantial computer experience. Knowledge of graphics and video editing programs are a plus, but not necessary.

Retail Sales Associate
The retail operation encompasses many duties including cashiering, running of games, inventory control, maintenance, greeting at the Biscuit Basket entrance, merchandising, and stocking.

The sales associate will assist customers and maintain the floor by restocking and cleaning. He/she will also serve as a deterrent for theft. A good working knowledge of the inventory and a commitment to customer service with a genuine interest in helping people are key.

The retail sales associate with previous cashier experience or promotion within the department will also serve as a game-time cashier. As a cashier he/she will be responsible for overages and shortages.

Stadium Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! Crew members are responsible for pre-event clean up including power-washing of the concourse and in the seating bowl, changing trash can liners, refilling restroom paper and soap dispensers, trash removal, and washing of all the special venues. Crew Members will take all direction from Stadium and Janitorial Supervisor.

Suite Cleaners
Suite cleaners must have at least six months of experience in hotel/industrial cleaning. Suite cleaning responsibilities include vacuuming and wiping down the suites, dusting the furniture and cleaning the windows of the suite doors. Attention to detail a must!

Suite Servers
Suite Servers service the suite level of the ballpark, offering a fine dining experience to the Biscuits important suite clients. Duties performed include serving food and beverages, stocking suites with supplies and attending to customers to make sure their experience is “positively outrageous”. Individuals with great people skills that have a commitment to customer service are the best qualified candidates. Previous serving experience is preferred but not necessary! Applicants must be over 21 years of age as alcohol is often served in suites.

Token Booth Operator
The Token Booth Operator is responsible for selling ride tokens, socks and other Biscuits merchandise. He/she is responsible for the safeguarding of the merchandise, proper collection and counting of monies and tokens.

Trash Runner Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! The trash runner will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all food service areas. Duties include but aren’t limited to emptying trash, sweeping and mopping.

Warehouse Workers
Warehouse crew workers are an important part of the food service department. Duties include receiving products from trucks, stocking concession stands and portables as well as event set up and tear down. The position has demanding physical requirements in order to efficiently perform its duties. Successful candidates must be able to lift 25-100 pounds.

Hours: The season consists of 70 home games that are played between April and September. Depending on the department, every position offers a flexible schedule that includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours and requires a commitment to a variable amount of the 70-team home games.

Pay: Pay rates depend on the specific position and levels of experience.
